That is why we still offer the three products listed below. Heavy Web News Black, Standard Web News Black, and Lo Tack Web News Black continue to enjoy great popularity among our customers as economical, low-VOC press-ready newsinks and/or extender inks for other no-heat formulas.
Heavy Web News Black
Heavy Web News Black is a mineral oil-based newsink of exceptionally high viscosity and tack. It is intended for use on no heat presses that require a heavy-bodied ink with good flow: perhaps due to high temperatures or ink-water balance problems. Its higher tack can also help overcome problems common to lower tack newsinks like waterlogging, stripping, etc. Heavy Web News Black is also very low in VOC content, less than 4 percent! Heavy Web News Black is best used on higher quality newsprint stocks and all absorbent business forms stocks. Because of its higher resin content, Heavy Web News Black can be used as a "low rub" newsink. Heavy Web News Black also makes an excellent base or extender for other no-heat, mineral oil-based inks such as business forms blacks just like our lo-VOC "Formsmaster" Black.
Standard Web News Black
Now with Zero VOC's!
Standard Web News Black is a less tacky, softer-bodied version of Heavy Web News Black. Standard Web News Black is intended for use on high speed no heat web offset presses. Its lower tack means reduced linting problems and longer runs between washups. Standard Web News Black features a somewhat viscous body and good flow for excellent water control and smooth printing even on rough newsprint stocks. Like all newsinks, Standard Web News Black sets almost instantly, and leaves a smear-resistant finish. Like Heavy Web News, it can be classified as a "low rub" ink, due to its elevated resin content. Standard Web News Black makes an excellent choice for medium speed (800-1100 FPM) web offset news presses, especially when price is a major factor. Standard Web News Black is suitable for all types of newsprint stocks, and it contains less than 7% VOC's.
Web News 3 EC Black
Super economy-priced news black!
Web News 3 EC Black is our most widely used low tack news black. Web News 3 EC black is intended for use on almost any type of open fountain web offset news press and some older injector and page pack presses. Web News 3 EC Black features excellent print density and rub resistance, as well as near-zero VOC content. Web News 3 EC Black is primarily petroleum-based, featuring heavily hydrotreated near medical-grade mineral oil for very low odor and toxicity. Web News 3 EC Black is compatible with either neutral or mild acid fountain solutions, giving excellent results at startup. Excellent control over ink/water balance. Super-low VOC's. Excellent de-inking for easy recycling of newsprint stocks.
Web News 5 LPK Letterpress News Black
If you encounter a customer who has a need for letterpress news black, then consider giving them Web News 5 LPK black. As with any good letterpress black, Web News 5 LPK has low viscosity, high flow, controlled misting, and strong pigmentation. Web News 5 LPK black is a special order item.
